Craziness part 4: где метро?

Only after leaving the hospital did I realist I didn't know where the metro was.

Thus took me an HOUR and at the end I was freaking out a bit (I could ask 'where am I?' in Russian, and luckily mark (leader) gave me his map before he went, but the hospital was off the map!!) plus people would respond and I couldn't understand.

Everyone was nice though. I always expected Russians to be jerks to strangers (since everyone describes them as cold) and sure, most weren't smiling when helping me, but they weren't hostile. It was in their voice. Their voice is always kind...

So I finally found the metro (and as a true drama student I said 'finally!' really loudly and freaked the people around me out).

I got a ticket, figured out how to get to the train to the airport and felt bad for being so smelly (my hair is do bad right now. Everyone is giving me weird looks)

  1. I AM SO HAPPY YOU ARE OK NIX!!! Was this on the trip itinerary when you booked the tour?!? I want to send a nice letter to your roommate that found you in the hospital and helped you, she sounds very kind and I am so happy she was there to help you.

I feel so relieved, I thought I was going to have a nervous breakdown yesterday but I can only imagine how worse you were feeling.

Dad should be there soon so at least he can help if you get sick again, in the end this adventure just got a little more memorable, what a trip!! XO

  2. Oh my gosh Niki, this was not in the plan! I'm so glad to hear that you are okay, and survived this adventure. What a brave girl you are, I think I would have just curled into a ball and cried until my dad found me. Hopefully this will not happen again, and you will be fine to enjoy the rest of your trip. Sending you big hugs and lots of prayers.

  3. What the heck Niki! Sure you are a drama student but you didn't need to go THAT far to prove it! Glad to read all is ok now - and that you learned along the way that Russians can be nice :) I know in east German times you couldn't just walk into any hospital and visit - they were strict about that. Must be the same case here. Like my sis got her appendix out in grade 4 and to visit at the childrens hospital they had a balcony running along the outside and you could only talk to them on a phone and see them through the window. No going inside. Like in a prison. I assume it's to keep illnesses out. Sending you hugs :)
