We got a taxi back to the hotel...or, at least, the guide put her hand out and a car stopped. The first car spoke with her then drove away. The second stopped and she told us to get in. We said 'but it doesn't say taxi and it doesn't have a meter' she told us to get in.
The driver was a university student who spoke really good English! His English name is Joe. He said he picks people up off the street and drives them wherever they want in town. I asked if that's common and he said yes. He was really nice, but I was surprised! I guess there are a lot of random taxies in Mongolia
